Things to do near Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club

South Queensferry, just a 24-minute drive from Dalmahoy, is certainly worth a visit. This charming shore-side town is nestled at the foot of the Forth Bridges and offers an abundance of splendid cafes and restaurants as well as unique experiences. Join Forth Boat Tours for a closer look at the iconic three bridges as well as local marine wildlife on one of their top-rated cruises. On the outskirts of South Queensferry proudly stands Hopetoun House and Dalmeny House; two historic stately homes with spectacular grounds waiting to be explored.

The popular town of Linlithgow is a terrific day out and just a 26-minute drive away. Famous for its Palace, which was the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, discover the history of this Royal Burgh at the local museum and take a lovely peaceful wander around the Linlithgow Loch.

Edinburgh city centre, and all it has to offer, is just 7 miles away and easily accessible by car, train or tram which are all located nearby. Here you will be spoilt for choice with things to do as well as must-see attractions such as Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, National Museum of Scotland and Arthur’s Seat.

Family-fun Activities

At Dalmahoy we know how important it is to ensure that both our big and small guests are happy during their visit, and there is certainly plenty to do nearby for the entire family.

Just a 17-minute drive from the hotel you will find Edinburgh Zoo. One of the top attractions the city has to offer, and home to over 1,000 animal species including the Sumatran Tiger, chimpanzees, Indian Rhinos, the UK’s only koalas, and the infamous knighted penguin - Major General Sir Nils Olav.

For the more adventurous visitors, Europe’s largest indoor climbing centre is just a 10-minute drive away at EICA:Ratho. Challenge yourself to world-class climbing walls or have fun in the soft play!

Livingston, the largest town in west Scotland, is just a 17-minute drive away where you will find plenty of shops including the Designer Outlet, a cinema, and must-visit attractions including Almond Valley, a working farm and heritage centre.

Outdoor Adventures

Jupiter Artland is a unique, contemporary art gallery just over 2-miles from Dalmahoy. This award-winning sculpture park is spread out over 100-acres and offers visitors a unique interactive experience to get up close and personal to its exhibitions.

A little further afield (27 minutes) Beecraig Country Park stands tall in the Bathgate Hills. This beautiful woodland walk has plenty to offer the whole family with miles of paths and trails to explore, a children’s play area and café.
